An optometrist is a health care professional who has earned a degree of Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) after completing a course of study at an approved college of optometry. Optometrists begin their training with completion of a Bachelor’s degree program at an undergraduate college followed by four years at an accredited college of optometry.

Dr. William Kritzer is from Lubbock, Texas and graduated from Monterey High School and Texas Tech University. Earning a Bachelors Degree in Business Management, Dr. Kritzer worked for Texas Instruments in Lubbock in the consumer products division during the next four years.
While always having a desire to have a career in the health care field, Dr. Kritzer was inspired by his optometrist in Lubbock to return to school at the University Of Houston College Of Optometry. After completing the additional courses required entering the College of Optomety, Dr Kritzer was accepted as the only business major in the entering class of 100 students. While attending the University of Houston, Dr. Kritzer was the student class president and received numerous awards and scholarships for his work in contact lenses and low vision. In addition, he was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honorary Optometric Fraternity.
Upon graduation, Dr.Kritzer returned to the North Dallas area and worked in Plano for 10 years in a private practice. After his years in Plano, he associated himself with Dr. Jeff Wood in Allen, Texas at the Allen Eyecare Center and has just completed his 23rd year in private practice.
Dr. Kritzer is known for his specialization in working with hard to fit contact lenses, LASIK management and the additional certification to become a therapeutic optometrist which enables him to prescribe oral and topical medications when needed.
Dr. Kritzer has been a long time member of The American Optometric Association, The Northeast Texas Optometric Society, and The Texas Optometric Association and has served on many committees to promote vision care in the Collin County area.
